My Black Widow Spider Costume was a combination of store-bought accessories, things from my closet, and some crafty creativity.
The base of the costume was a black dress out of my closet.
I purchased the following items:
– Red elastic/vinyl belt from H&M
– Spider web tights
– Mesh fingerless gloves
– Top-hat with red band and spiderweb veil
– Spiderweb eyelashes
My crafty creativity came in to make the extra 4 spider legs.
I purchased two pairs of cheap black tights, some plack elastic, and I stopped by the free newspaper box and picked up a few weekly papers.
I stuffed the tights with rolled-up balls of newspaper, paying attention to where there would be a bend in the legs. I wrapped the waistband of the tights around the belt, ensuring that I could still fasten the belt. The two spider legs on each side were attached together with about 6″ of elastic. I attached a loop of elastic on the top legs to hang from my wrists. This allowed me to remove them for going to the bathroom, buying drinks, and squeezing through the crowd in the bar.
My Black Widow Spider Costume was cute, comfortable, and looked great!
