At my daughter’s request, I designed this cupcake costume for Halloween. My mother (her Nana) did all of the sewing. First, we took an old lampshade and turned it upside down for the cupcake wrapper. We spray painted it teal and then added suspenders that we looped through the lampshade, brought up over her shoulders, and criss-crossed to keep it up.
Then, we laided out some pink satin material and cut it into a long rectangle that we then turned under and sewed into a long tube. We stuffed the tube with poly-fill and wrapped it around, spiraling it upward. We tacked the pink icing at various places to keep it together, leaving spaces for her arms to come out of the costume and to keep it up.
We made another small rectangle of pink material and repeated the process to make the hat. We added pompoms as sprinkles and hot glued a large red shiny Christmas ornament from the dollar store on top as a cherry.
