Coolest Cupcake DIY Costume

This year I decided to make a Cupcake DIY Costume.
I made the bottom out of a cardboard box that I opened up and folded accordion style and then hot glued this silver tulle to the creases.

The top was made out of quilt stuffing that I cut to about 2 inches thick. Then I made a tube of pink tulle by ironing the two ends together with the no sew hem product. I then stuffed the tubes with the quilt stuffing.

Once I had the tube stuffed I started hot gluing in a circular pattern around the cardboard. I used the hemline as my glue line and that seemed to make it stick better.

Once I got to the 3rd or second ring of “icing” I attached two pieces of ribbon as suspenders to the cardboard. This helped give the top layers of icing some extra support when gluing.

Then once everything was glued onto the cardboard base I was able to attach my sprinkles. These were made out of a Styrofoam ball that I cut up and painted with acrylic paint. Again I just hot glued these on to empty spaces.

The cherry on top is a Styrofoam ball and the stem and leaf are also made out of the extra Styrofoam from the sprinkles. I attached the cherry to a piece of flat cardboard and then attached that to a pink headband. I did have to bobby pin this down to my head to keep it from flopping back and forth.
