This costume was inspired by my eight year old daughter Elisabeth. She wanted a unique costume. We were on a budget and only had balloons, posterboard and our imaginations. We tied a piece of red posterboard around her waist(I used duct tape on the edges so it wouldn’t rip and fastened string on each corner. This way she was able to sit down. We glued a black opening to show where the gumballs come out.
We cut holes for the arms and head in a clear drawstring garbage bag that tied around her waist.I put clear packing tape on the edges I cut so it would not tear further. We filled it with balloons once it was on. Her hat read”gumballs 25 cents” and was simply a red band fit to her head. I was a zero cost unique costume put together in no time at all!
