The costume I chose to enter is Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight, who is a fusion card in the playable card game, and TV series Yu-Gi-Oh.
I have been a huge fan of this fandom forever, so I was really excited when I finally decided to create this costume.
It is made out of craft foam – like those sheets you find in the kid’s section at craft stores – and painted with chrome spray paint! The pattern was a little tricky, but once I figured it out using paper as a pattern, I could easily build the costume pieces. The skirt was made using an old pink sheet!
The sword was made using a different foam – insulation foam. I carved it out of the pink insulation foam and I used wood glue to stiffen the foam and to make it more durable. I painted it the same silver and used gold paint and glitter for all the gems!
