This is my daughter Jonna dressed as Edward Scissorhands in 2010. She loves all things Tim Burton so this DIY Edward Scissorhands Halloween costume was an easy choice.
The base of the costume is simple stretch pants that look like leather and a black shirt. All of the belts and “hardware” on her costume are from a local “Everything’s a Dollar” type stores. The studs and “rivets” on the belts are made from brass binder studs and paper hole protectors painted gold. The wig is a simple black cropped wig she got at Wal Mart.
The most challenging part of this costume was of course the scissorhands pieces. She started with black knit gloves (the kind that start really small and then stretch to fit) to which she attached “scissor blades” traced and cut out of craft foamboard. The blades were spray painted silver then sewn to the gloves as well as the various springs and hardware that her grandpa gave her from his tool shop.
Needless to say that she got many compliments on her DIY Edward Scissorhands Halloween costume and she and her mother should be very proud of their efforts. It really turned out awesome!
LOVE IT!!
