My son loves John Deere Tractors so what else could he possibly be but a DIY John Deere tractor child Halloween costume idea. I used two cardboard boxes painted them green with spray paint for the main part of the tractor. I then painted a paper towel roll black for the stack on top of the front box. I used yellow duct tape and black mail box letters for the side of the tractor.
I used two different sized bowls to make the wheels out of cardboard. I also put tail lights on the back and used push lights for the front of the tractor that actually work. To hold it on him I just used some elastic straps!
This costume was the hit of the community party and he won!
what did you use to do the Grille on the front? thanks!
I used a piece of poster board and cut out slots then spray painted the grill black…it was pretty easy then I glued it on.
Great! Thank you
Great! Thank you. I guess one last question, it seems to me that the front of the costume is heavier than the back. Do the elastic straps correct this or was your son fighting to keep it up? Thank you again, my son loves this so far!
No it was not to heavy in the front just make sure the elastic straps are not too long! My son was 3 when I made this!
thanks for all the help! my son is 4 and about 50 lbs. so I think he will manage. Thanks again!
The straps actually I stapled and made sure there was no sharp parts sticking out to hurt him. I stapled it quite a bit. Then I painted over the staples.
Thank you!
