Our 8 year old daughter decided she wanted to be Oogie Boogie from Nightmare before Christmas this year. Of course this is not a costume you can find online or in stores – SO I knew I needed to get to work.
I purchased burlap, hobby wire, black & brown embroidery floss, black yarn and two packs of glue sticks. I made a homemade fat suit for her body and arms to fill her out. I used the burlap to make her body and mask. I lined the burlap with white material so you could not see through it and to match the fat suit. We used black materiel to enhance the eyes and mouth and wrapped hobby wire with paper towels to define the mouth and eyebrows.
It took us over two weeks as we did this all by hand and it came out fantastic! She was a HUGE hit at her classmates Halloween party with parents and kids wanting to take pictures with her. Nothing better than a happy kid!!
