This Do it Yourself Alice in Wonderland Costume was one of my first sewing projects. I put many hours of time and love into it. I had a hard time finding a cute costume online or in the stores, and they are so expensive! My daughter wanted to be Alice, and only Alice, and wanted mommy to make it, so mommy did.
I found the perfect color blue at Joanns, and we were off, it took two weeks of an hour or two a day working on it, from the cutting of the pattern, to the very last stitch.
She was precious and made it so worth all of the time and work put into it. I think that homemade costumes are so much more fun, and really show the creativity, and imaginations of the children and parents. I encourage all parents to try to make their costumes, it is a great time to spend time with your children teaching them the process, and to show them just how much you love them, by doing something for them and giving them your time. There is no costume store bought that gives that!
