I’m an artist living in Austin, TX who spends every September and October making my kids Halloween costumes. My son wanted to be a Transformer again. As an experiment, I wanted to see if I could motorize his wheels this time and make the costume functional as a car. His body serves as the frame. Each wheel has its own motor and gearbox which we salvaged from some junked Power Wheels ride on cars. A toggle switch on each hand controls the wheels. Roller blade wheels allow his knees to roll when in position. More roller blade wheels on the shoes help stabilize the wheel but its still a challenge to keep the wheels in contact with the ground at all times. Plus with two 6-volt batteries, also from Power Wheels ride on cars, the whole suit weighs about 30 pounds which is a lot for an 8-year old!
This Homemade Formula One Transfomer Costume is not a practical costume for trick or treating, more of a show piece. Thanks!
That’s so cool
