Firstly I would like to start off by saying how much I love Halloween costumes especially DIY costumes. I feel that they generate an opportunity to show your creativity without any limits. Halloween is an opportunity to be something you have always wanted to be and for me I have always been inspired by the hippie era in fashion music etc. It is my aim one day to own a Volkswagen bus and to decorate it, this cardboard bus is one step closer!
I made the bus by getting an old cardboard box and taking off the top and bottom. I then painted a base color (green) and then I decorated it using more paint (very messy). My bus also has fully functional headlights, made from battery operated push lights. I attached chord at either side so it could hang around my shoulders. Overall it took me a few days.
My outfit consists of my mom’s old hippie maxi skirt and her old glasses. The accessories (bracelets headbands, earrings and necklace), the top and the belt are all from Primark. The Homemade Hippie Costume cost me under ten Euros as I had most of the items at home. I also painted peace signs and flowers on my face and arms!
