I was never a big Halloween guy until I had kids. Now as a dad, I get to enjoy Halloween thru the eyes of my children. After the first couple years of random costumes, we decided to start applying a theme to our costumes. Last year, we were all Super Heroes: Spiderman, Hulk, Batgirl, etc. This year, we were all Super Villains: Doomsday, Poison Ivy, Abomination, Harley Quinn, etc.
After watching a few paper mache videos on YouTube I decided to try making a full body costume of the Abomination (bad guy in latest Hulk movie). The homemade Abomination from the Hulk Halloween costume idea is made of cardboard, paper, paper mache, and paper mache pulp. I started with basic cardboard shapes that would wrap around a given body part: arm, leg, etc. Then I would roll up newspaper and tape it to the cardboard to make the basic shape. After that, each piece was skinned with paper mache (I just used flour and water, nothing special). The bones were made with paper mache pulp.
I used ‘quick wrap’ plaster gauze to make a mold of my face and created the features on the face using the same paper mache pulp. A couple shades of paint and we were good to go. I held separate pieces together with Velcro which allowed me to put it on and take it off. Months of work for a couple hour party… totally worth it!
I really like the costume, me and you should have a fight science and put it in you tube! Check out my hulk search coolest unique hulk costume
