It took us about 3 hours to get our costumes on the second time around. We painted ourselves with body paint, mixing teal and dark blue for the base and painting our stripes on with just dark blue. I made my loin cloth and top with a fake leather material and he bought khaki pants and a khaki shirt. We made all of our own jewelry.
We bought Avatar wigs as well as Avatar noses and ears. We cut the noses to fit us and attached them with spirit glue and did the same with our ears. Then we painted our faces with the same paint we used on our body. We also purchased “Avatar” contacts to give us the yellow Avatar eyes. For my tail I purchased the women’s Avatar costume and just cut the suit so that it was just basically a pair of shorts with a tail on it. For his tail I used one of the legs from the body suit and sewed it, then stuffed it with quilt stuffing rolled up and cut part of the bottom of our wigs for the fur at the end.
And I think that’s about it! This Homemade Avatar Couple Halloween Costume Idea was such fun and I don’t know what we will do to top it next year!
