Here’s our cool Kool Aid Man Costume! This year my husband has been laid off more than once and this month has really hit us hard, so unfortunately I did not have much money to work with this year, but thank goodness I am a craft maniac, I make my kids costumes every year, so I thought of the Homemade Baby Kool Aid Man Costume for my 1 year old.
I molded the round body out of paper mache over a punching balloon like I would make a pinata after 3 layers of mache and when it dried and hardened I popped the balloon, cut off the top, bottom and two arm holes one one each side. I found an old read sweater of mine, cut it up and glued it over the paper mache.
For the eyes, nose and mouth I used material from an old pair of black socks. The trickiest part was the ice cubes. I found some white foam sheets I had and cut out 1 in squares and glued 6 sides together to make cubes, then I used the plastic from zip lock bags and glued the plastic over the cubes to give it a almost icy wet look.
For the spout and the handle I just cut cardboard from capricious boxes in the shape of a handle and a spout. Finally just threw on a pair of my daughter’s old red tights on him and he already had a red turtleneck body suit!
I spent absolutely nothing on this costume. I used what I had and this I have to say is my best creation yet, this recession and lay off did not hold me back when it comes to being creative. I give it my all!
Great Job!
thats awesome! really creative and absolutely adorable!
