Coolest Homemade Bert and Ernie Costumes

Every year I am challenged to find a costume idea better than the year before. Then comes the part of bringing the idea to fruition. I am a huge advocate for homemade costumes that display creativity, ingenuity, and just good plain fun! Having other people come up to you and say how great your costume is, is the best feeling. All of the hard work and effort you put into the costume was well worth it when other people are admiring the wonderful outcome of your initial idea.

This year, I got my boyfriend on board who never really got too much into Halloween before. The big kicker that helped our costume was that he is 6’6” and I am 5’4” so what would be better than real life Homemade Bert and Ernie Costumes, made from scratch!

We bought the sweatpants and sweatshirts but made our shirts out of fabric paint and good old masking tape. My head was made of orange foam and his was made from yellow cardboard. Our hair was constructed from an accessory beard found at a Halloween store. On top of that, we got clown noses and painted his orange, face paint, gloves in the appropriate colors, paperclips (for dorky Bert), and or course a rubber ducky for Ernie. Hope you enjoy it!
