My son had a Homemade Blueberry Pie A La Mode Halloween Costume Idea this year for Halloween. I made it using the felt on a roll, polyfil, a glue gun, pinking shears, paint, balloons and ribbon. The ice cream was insulation caulking, a round newspaper ball for the “scoop” part and polyfil all wrapped up in masking tape. I measured out the correct size “triangle” (make 4) for his front and back, I stuffed it with poly fil and hot glued the edges shut.
On the front piece, I took some pipe cleaners and ran it across the top edge to form a wavy crust. I used the pinking shears to make the latice work crust and glued them on in a weaving pattern. I painted some blue in between each hole to look like the filling was oozing out. I eye-balled the balloons and attached them with safety pins to the inside (in case one pops, carry extra balloons and pins). He wore a blueberry on his head (a winter hat) and carried an icecream bucket to hold his candy, and the costume was a hit!!
How creative and delicious too! At first I thought you must have used brown packing tape for the lattice work, but I see you made it from fabric, which sounds much nicer and more professional looking.
It looks much neater than the ‘bunch of grapes’ balloon-based costume. Berry berry smart.
