My sons are Star Wars fanatics! When they said they wanted to be Boba and Jango, I looked at the store-bought costumes and thought, “Ugh!” They look cheap and really don’t look much like their on-screen counterparts. Being creatively inclined, I decided to make my own. In an epic journey that involved plastic trash cans, cardboard, fake leather, hot glue guns, mailing tubes, and lots of paint, clay, and effort, I created this homemade Boba and Jango Fett couple costume idea. Not one thing on them is store-bought, save for Boba’s helmet (I just ran out of time). Even Jango’s helmet is home made from an old ski helmet and lots of cardboard.
The jetpacks were difficult! I made them from plastic For Sale signs and hand-painted all of the details. The armor is cut from plastic trash cans, shaped with a heat gun, then painted (for Boba) or Rub n’ Buffed (for Jango). The kids LOVED the costumes and were incredibly proud to show them off! It is amazing what you can do with simple hardware and craft store materials if you have the time and will.
These outfits are tremendous and the helmet you made looks better than the other one. Well Done
Love the costumes. My son is being Jango, how did you do the helmet?
