This Homemade Bumblebee Transformer Autobot Costume is my tribute to my favorite Autobot, Bumblebee! Every year I attend a charity event to raise money for the local children’s hospital. However, this is not just a charity event. It is also a chance to get creative and see who can pull off the best fancy dress costume. I pride myself on being unique and try to come up with ideas that no one else will think of, but although my previous costumes were unique they didn’t stand out much.
So this time around I had to step it up a notch! The new Transformers movie had been released so I decided to look for costumes but none of them were any good, so I decided to make my own. I looked on Youtube for tips on how to make something this big and stumbled across other homemade Transformers that actually transformed.
After gathering together some ideas I set to work. I used cardboard boxes, Duck tape, strong adhesive and acrilic water resistant paint for the body and limbs and used an old pair of braces to hold the body in place on my back. I made the helmet from paper-mache and added shiny transfers to the body to make the Autobot symbol.
Needless to say I was the talk of the day and did more transforming than Bumblebee himself has ever done that day.
