I made this Homemade Caged Head Halloween Costume for my husband to wear last year. When the costume is on, it stands almost 8 feet tall and is about 4-5 feet wide.
He had to slip inside and put a back pack on that I constructed the top portion of the monster who would carry my husband’s head in a cage that I made from sticks and twine (as any monster would be sure to do!) Once inside, his hands would slip through the monsters sleeves and then into the gloves I made as the monster’s hands with long, fingers and nails. Then he could reach up and hold the cage to look like the monster was carrying his head in the cage.
Its hard to see in the photo but the monster is wearing a huge black cape and cloak that would sway and flow as he walked. The bottom was tattered and was a dark grey, not the blue it shows in the photo. My husband would turn his head and scream help at people as they went by! It was a huge hit and he had people stopping him all night to take photos with him.
It took about two weeks to put this together. The photo doesn’t do it justice
