We have built this costume from a packing box, acrylic paint, apple sauce cups, packing foam and few LEDs. All held together by a pile of hot glue. There was no plan. Entire Homemade Cardboard Wall E Halloween Costume Idea was a pure improvisation. But it turned out fine. It took about 2 weekends. Building together is fun.
The body is simply a right-size box. The threads are cardboard cut outs wrapped around with, you guessed, cardboard (note: cardboard bends easier one way). So is the head – except we made it fit with a closed-cell packing foam from a computer or what not. Eyes are apple-sauce cups (2 per eye). The blue LEDs are powered by a single AA (I made a simple Joule Thief circuit to boost the voltage but you can just use a 9V battery). The hands are again cardboard with finger-straps made of cardboard. They also have a rubber band to hold them around elbow.
Since the costume is restricting moves the “candy collection” was a problem. We have solve it by adding a “lunch-box” in the back.
It was a hit at our local Halloween outpost.
Looks great! Just wonder if you installed anything on the inside of the box to keep it in place or if just the arm and head holes did that?
