This Homemade Carol from Where the Wild Things Are Costume is 100% made from scratch. First, the head was formed with paper mache around a 65cm workout ball. The details on the head were then created with paper mache pulp. The eyes were just painted on. All the fur and fabric was ordered online.
Then pieces were cut and hot glued to the head. I used screen material in the mouth so I can see out. The head was stuffed with foam to fit securely around my head. Second, the body is made from fur and sewn together one stripe at a time. I then stuffed it with some pillows. Third, the legs were made from fake gator skin. All fur is faux fur. No animals were harmed in the making of this costume.
I then made glove out of the remaining fur. Total cost was about $225.00, mostly from the fur. The costume took a total of 120 hours to complete and weights about 35lbs.
Wow, your costume creation of the monster Carol is absolutely genius!
It is THE BEST out of all the monster costumes I’ve seen from “Where the Wild Things Are”.
The detail, fur material, and hard work put into the costume set it apart from all the rest.
I hope you win Best Costume at a Halloween party.
