My son’s school only allows “career-themed dress-up” for Halloween at school. So, instead of having to do 2 costumes, we went with one idea and spruced it up for Trick-or-Treating!
For Career Day, he was an attorney. We had a nice suit on hand with a white button-down shirt, tie, & dress shoes. I also work at a law firm and my 80-something boss often-times wears Fedora hats. So we borrowed a black Fedora hat from him & a briefcase from my other boss. We purchased a pair of large non-prescription glasses at Wal-Mart for $5 (the only thing purchased for this costume). He won 1st place in the school’s Career Day Costume Contest!
For Saturday & Sunday night, we had a Homemade Clark Kent Boy’s Halloween Costume Idea, using the exact same get-up for Career Day minus the briefcase and added a royal blue shirt underneath his white button-down. We searched online for a Superman “S” color page and printed it out and colored it in with the appropriate red, blue, and yellow markings as Superman. We cut out the colored, bordered “S” and taped it onto his royal blue shirt. We tucked in both shirts, but left the middle 3 buttons of the white shirt and all buttons on the coat unbuttoned so that he could “rip” open his white shirt to expose his alternate identity as Superman!
