This Claw Machine Costume is my son dressed as a “Mr. Claw” arcade machine, which he loves to play at our local movie theater. We started with a large cardboard box and covered it with duct tape and then spray painted it green. We cut out the windows with a box cutter and added battery operated Christmas lights through small holes we made with an ice pick around the front window and covered each one with a ping pong ball to look like large bulbs when the lights are turned on.
We made “the claw” out of salad tongs, which we bent and then inserted into the lid of a laundry detergent bottle and secured with hot glue and then covered it all in silver duct tape. We added a smaller box to the front of the large box that was painted black and we put a start button and joystick on top and a sign that looks like a coin slot. We dressed my son up as a puppy (or grand prize) and put him inside with the other stuffed animal prizes. We added some casters on the bottom of the costume so he could roll around in it and not have to carry it all night.
