The first thing (and the hardest thing to find)for this Cruella DeVille Costume Idea was the fur coat, very important for Cruella De Vil. We searched second hand stores and garage sales until we found just the right one for a good price—we figured it would have been ridiculous to pay hundreds of dollars for such an impractical coat she would never wear again.
Once we had the coat, the tight black skimpy dress (this one had no back, though it’s covered by the coat), gloves, pointy, heeled boots (not visible in picture), and black and white wig were not hard to find in a similar way as the coat. The wig was a better solution, but another option would have been to use black and white hairspray had we been unable to find one.
We couldn’t find a real cigarette holder, nor would she probably have been permitted to bring one to school, so we made one using black pens and duct tape. So long as she was delicate with it, it looked just fine, and she used small, rolled up white paper which she kept in her purse and stuck one on the end (held on by the duct tape) to pretend she was lighting up a smoke.
The purse was just a small old one we found in the dress-up box, wrapped in a piece of fun fur. Once dressed in all of these pieces, she used a very small amount of white cream makeup to make herself look pale, heavy eye makeup, and bright red lipstick to complete the look.
