Sweet Homemade Cupcake Costume

I used a $2.00 laundry basket that I cut in half for this Homemade Cupcake Costume. I folded 3 sheets of pink poster board and glued them around the edge of the basket. I used a large sheet of quilt polyfill and folded it 4 times to make a thick square. Placed cupcake base in the center and rolled the edges of polyfill in to be glued to the poster board.

Flip cupcake over and cut a “X” in the center. Not too big! About 7″. It will stretch to where you can step through it and wiggle into place. Add pom-poms for sprinkles and tie wide ribbon to the laundry basket to make straps! Wear over a white t-shirt! Headband is made from a pink headband and giant pipe-cleaner!

  2. To answer the girls question above. Me and my friend made this costume last night and the top portion is really easy. We had a harder time with the bottom and I’m still unsure how she was able to use glue for the basket and construction paper because it was not sticking.

Anyways when doing the frosting you are going to get a roll of polyfill. You can find that at hobby lobby or any craft store for like 5 bucks. You are going to fold the polyfill sheet four times to make it thick then place it on the top and start tucking a little into the inside of the basket. You will see when you do that it starts to look just like an overflow of icing. The top part we were actually able to use the hot glue gun. We just glued the polyfill to the back of the base of the cupcake instead of the actual basket because you want it to look like the icing is dripping over the cupcake holder. Once you get it all glued cut an x in the middle. We just stuck our hand underneath the basket, pulled up the fabric and cut a little x. We didn’t even cut a full 7 inches cause it stretches alot. Hope this helps!

  3. Please explain more in detail when making the frosting. It’s a bit confusing when you say fold into 4 square an roll the poly fill to edge? Hard to picture that?? Also center of the base? Please be more detailed on directions, makes it hard for people to picture it. Maybe make a video on how to make this cute Halloween costume.
