I was at a loss as to what to make for my daughter’s costume once the “tea cup” costume didn’t work out as we had planned. We decided on the Homemade Cupcake Halloween Costume and I am SO glad that we did!
This was made from a medium sized laundry hamper. We cut out the bottom; wrapped it in poster board (to hide the holes in the hamper), then hot glued pink fabric. I pleated the fabric every few inches to make the bottom look more like a cupcake wrapper. We took wide satin ribbon and pinned it make the suspenders.
The top is a plain white flat sheet, wrapped around twice. We made the sprinkles out of different sized pom-poms. Lastly, we sprayed the bottom with silver spray glitter to give it the sparkly look!
For the hat, we bought a pink cap and hot glued a small plastic red ornament to the top – for the “cherry on top”.
Cost – $12
OOMMGGG you have saved my life! the laundry basket is the smartest idea ever! thank you.
Thanks for the Laundry basket idea – that will work perfect!
