Dazed and Confused has been a favorite movie of mine since Jr. High. While looking through this site I found the D&C page and instantly wanted to do it! My friend and I went as Senior Girls and our husbands went as Wooderson and Slater, respectively. Here’s how we created this homemade Dazed and Confused group costume:
Senior Girls: The jerseys were made out of Hanes white sweatshirts– $5 at Wal-Mart. They only had crew neck, so I had to cut off the collar and make into a v-neck and hot glued on the front. I cut 77 out of Navy Felt and hot glued to the back of the jersey. The Senior letters were ironed on in navy.
We both wore jeans shorts–I got mine, the short very light blue for only $1 at Wal-Mart. We both wore knee socks with blue stripes, low-top sneakers, and whistles. We also carried around ketchup bottles.
Slater: This was my husband. I picked up some green “slacks” from Goodwill, as well as the tan shirt. The wig and hat were from Wal-Mart–$18 in total. We ironed on the pot leaf. He wore black sneakers to complete the outfit.
Wooderson: My friend’s husband. They spray-painted a pair of pants he already had a pink color. Ironed on the Ted Nugent Album Cover to a plain white t-shirt. She got him a shaggy blonde wig and matching mustache.
Being that this is more of a “cult” movie, not everyone knew who we were. However, those who did recognize us LOVED it!
All in all it was an awesome costume and I was able to dance like crazy in my sneakers :)
