Coolest Homemade Dr. Seuss Costumes

Well, we all decided to do something original for Halloween. Since the three of us don’t like buying costumes, we all made them. While deciding on an idea, we searched the web and found some great ideas. We decided to be the Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2. While trick-or-treating, everyone commented on how cute we all were. This is how we made our Homemade Dr. Seuss Costumes.

My costume was the Cat in the Hat. I started it off with black pants and a black shirt. I bought white felt ($1.25) and cut an oval and sewed it onto the black shirt. I then used my black yoga pants and got a black boa for the tail. I didn’t want to sew it, since I love these pants, so I just stuck it in there and it stayed. I then bought a red bow from a Christmas store. This can be purchased anywhere. It had the wire tie so I just twisted it around my neck.

The hat was borrowed from a family friend. You can buy it at Toys R’ Us or anywhere. I didn’t want to buy it since I wasn’t going to wear this costume ever again. I then painted my nose black and drew on whiskers with black costume make-up.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 were my two friends. However they did not want the blue hair or the white face (they’re girly-girls.) I don’t blame them as I wouldn’t like it either. I was a bit afraid of how it would turn out but they looked great!

They bought red long-sleeved Phillies shirts and turned them inside out. They used white felt and used a clock to trace the circle. They then wrote “Thing 1” and “Thing 2” on their circles. They then safety-pinned them to their shirts. They bought red sweat pants, which were a bit pricey, but they intend to wear them again after Halloween. The costumes were a success and all they did was wear red!

Everyone at the party and trick-or-treating loved our costumes. It was an amazing time.
