I designed my son’s Face/Book costume as a play on words with the whole costume centered around his face in a book. For this homemade Face-Book Halloween costume idea I started with two pieces of foam board and cut a hole for the face. I sandwiched him between the two boards and connected the two pieces of foam boards with Bristol board and lots of tape, leaving spaces for his arms.
I covered the front with paper mâché and built a 3D image of the F, Like, thumbs up, and comment icon. Then I painted in the colors of Facebook, painted the F white and assembled a friends list by making a collage of silly pictures. I used plaster of paris, over Bristol board for the top and side of the book, shaped the plaster to look like pages of a book, then painted it white and drew lines with a brown pencil crayon. I taped the inside of the face area so it didn’t hurt his face and framed it with construction paper to make it look like a profile picture.
I finished the costume with more Facebook themed pictures. It was a hit at school because he carried a little wipe off board for people to write comments.
i love it
