I made my Gene Simmons Halloween costume within a week, having first decided that I wanted to recreate his costume from the 1974-75 KISS Alive.
I visited a lot of fabric and craft stores and ordered my studs on-line. I was KISS last year and used my old costume as a template, so that saved a lot of time. Making the wings and figuring how to attach the arm bands were the hardest parts. I used elastic and metal snaps purchased at the fabric store. I bought a leather vest at Goodwill, cut it down a little and put studs on it. For spikes, I used a rubber spike necklace I found at a Halloween store for about $5.00.
I also dressed my nephew as Paul and we went out together and had a ball. The minute we walked into the bar, we were posing for pictures and receiving compliments. The DJ even played KISS for us and we had a ball. I think the best part of the night was when my nephew and I were driving up to Atlanta, dressed as KISS and blasting KISS Alive all the way there; people were freaking out seeing KISS next to them at a red light.
