Tricia and I decided to make this homemade Georgia Florida House Divided couple costume idea for our Company Halloween Contest. We had lots of reasons to make this costume. I graduated from the University of Georgia, she graduated from the University of Florida, we work for the company who licenses the “Ga/Fl House divided” license plates and Halloween weekend falls on the weekend that Georgia and Florida play each other. So we created a house divided.
We started with foam boards and then used colored foam to create the bricks on our house. We used two different types of felt/foam for the roof to give it a shingled look. We blew up the logos for our schools and put them on the back with “The House Divided” logo. We used real helmets and dressed in black leggings, wore our schools sweatshirts and tapes the roof to the helmets. We were extremely pleased with the way it ended up and had a blast doing it. And it fit us perfectly and everyone loved it!!
