This year my friends and I were determined to win the costume contest with our group of friends in an annual party that grows every year. Since it is the 25th anniversary of Ghostbusters we decided that was a WONDERFUL theme! With the help of a dear friend, I designed and made all the Homemade Ghostbusters Costumes for all the characters in the movie.
Here are the Ghostbusters!
All the packs are different and all made with recycled stuff found in my house, well, besides the lights and painted water guns of course!
For all 4 proton packs, I found boxes that would fit the bodies of the guys being the Ghostbusters and started from the bottom up. Using paper plates, medicine bottles, bottle lids, soup containers, old screws, bolts, paper towel rolls and really anything found in junk drawers. I hot- glued everything on the boxes and sprayed it all black. Then I got the battery operated LED Christmas lights from the hobby store and strung them all over the packs. I printed off replica labels for the packs, glued them on, added a few little touches of color and they became working proton packs!
Every pack is unique and all resemble the original. All the guys then purchased khaki flight suits and we attached the name tags and logos to their suits.
I also made the goggles, ghost catcher and slimmer. Every pack had some sort of FUN adult accessory (beerbong, gun with shots, Dixie cup holder)
These guys were a HUGE HIT!
