To begin my daughter asked me if I could make her a Princess Peacock costume for Halloween. I realized then I had my work cut out for me! But after several months with the help of my friend we got it done and it looked amazing.
First we found some silk material in greens and blues and made her a dress. We found a cheap mask from the Party Store and hot glued sequences, reinstones and feathers on it to match the dress. We found a great pair of long blueish gloves at Justice and used her flip flops for shoes.
When I told my my friend that Shannon wanted to be a peacock for Halloween she said her neighbor has a real live peacock that lives on her property and it is shedding his feathers everywhere! We asked her if we could have the ones that fell on the ground for our costume. When she said YES we knew the costume was going to be awesome! We hot glued the feathers one by one (which took many hours) on a belt so it was easy to attach and remove. We used any extra feathers on my daughters mask and flip flops! It all came together and my daughter loves her costume:-)
By the way we went to the owners house who gave us the feathers and had a 5 x7 picture of my daughter in her costume and framed it. She love ditto! We also bought the peacock his favorite food?.a box of saltine crackers!
