This is my 11-year-old son in his homemade Headless Boy Halloween costume.
The only things I actually had to purchase for the costume were the giant gray shirt(thrift store), poly-fil to stuff the arms, shoulders and gloves, and the make-up.
I used a backpack baby carrier to give the costume height and then used a TON of poly-fil to bulk it up. I cut a hole in a cardboard cake box for his head to fit through and used red tissue paper to fill in around his neck. I used safety pins and a hot glue gun to attach the arms to his sides (so they wouldn’t sag) and the fake hands to the cake box.
I also used the hot glue to attach the back of the cake box to the shirt to keep it from pitching forward. I used a plastic ziploc bowl at the neck, hot-glued it into place and put spaghetti that had been boiled with water and red food coloring. I then added some fake blood to that to make it look like there were blod clots in there too. He won first place in the kids category of our local costume contest!
