For this homemade headless butler costume we started with a back pack and bubble wrap. We used a lot of duct tape and made a form which we stuffed into a shirt.
When he put the backpack on his back he stuck his head thru the shirt and we cut a hole in the apron which his head came thru then we had an aluminum pan which we cut to fit around his neck. We covered the cut edges with more duct tape so it wouldn’t scratch his neck then safety pinned the pan to the apron then taped the fake hands to the corners of the pan.
We put more fake blood around his neck and in the bottom of the pan. He wore black pants and this homemade headless butler costume was a huge hit.

I keep reading about using a backpack to make the headless costumes, but I’m not getting how the backpack stays up above the head to form the torso and neck. Am I missing something?
