Handmade Jack Skellington Costume

This is a re-worked Homemade Jack Skellington Costume that I altered for my friend. He is incredibly skinny so I had to take the costume in quite a bit. The gloves were made by taking apart skeleton hands and hot gluing the pieces to a pair of black gloves.

The zero was probably the most difficult and time-consuming part. His frame is made from wire clothes hangers that I cut and bent. The head is a Styrofoam cone and the ears were formed from the hangers and wrapped in white felt. Zero’s frame and head are covered by a white pillowcase and his nose is an orange ping-pong ball with a Jack-o-lantern drawn on. The hardest part was making it look like he was flying. I made the leash out of another clothes hanger and wrapped it in twine, then looped it around Zero’s neck to make it look like a noose. Because Zero has such a heavy head I had to tie fishing line to several spots on the frame and sew it through the fabric and tie it to the leash.

The end product was amazing and there was a mob of people on my driveway taking pictures with “Jack”.

  1. That is the coolest Jack costume I’ve ever seen, the tall slenderness of your friend and the awesome dog totally makes him authentic! Great job!
