I needed an easy to do, inexpensive costume I could wear at work. I also needed a costume I could somehow put aside while I worked. I decided on this Homemade Jellyfish Costume.
I bought online one of those dome transparent umbrellas they sell in catalogs. I used double stick tape to attach strips of white crepe paper, such as the one used for party decorations, all around the dome. I wore an all-white cotton pantsuit and sneakers. The costume came together as I stood under the dome and the strips sort of “floated” as I moved around.
When I needed to “take it off” for work, I would just close the umbrella and set it aside. It was a great success, a lot of fun and more than anything, a very cost-effective alternative.
