Every child’s dream, endless Junk Food! My husband and 10 year old had the time of their lives creating this homemade junk food costume!
They made his legs into a Cheeto and a can of Coke. His arms were a lollipop and his favorite Laffy Taffy. A slice of blueberry pie and a chocolate donut made up his shoulders. “Junk Food’s” body was made into a slice of pizza and a half eaten Dreamsicle with all his favorite candies in between.
We kept telling our son, “You are what you eat.” It finally came true!
While trick or treating it backfired when someone said, “Looks like you have enough candy on you!”
Here is what you need to create your own walking junk food frenzy:
1. 1 Inch Pillow Foam
2. Multicolor Foam Sheets
3. Upholstery Thread & Needle
4. Hot Glue & Glue Gun
5. Paint Pens
6. Markers
7. Knowledge & Fondness for Candy
8. Candy Wraps or Access to Images of them via the Internet
9. Fiber Fill for Ice Cream Hat
10. Various Colors of Material to Make Wappers, Icecream Hat, etc.
11. Imagination
For this homemade junk food costume first create a base around your body with the 1 inch foam. We made ours to form like a sandwich board & stitched it on the sides with the upholstery thread. Then have fun creating “mock” candies, etc. to fill it with. Hot glue and sew where items fit best and you’re ready to hit the streets sporting enough junk food to make any kid drool.
How much did that cost?
