Katy Perry’s California girls music video was the inspiration for this Homemade Katy Perry (California Girls) Halloween Costume Idea. The costume was relatively simple to make. I took a pair of denim shorts and spray glued sparkles on them. For the cupcakes, they are made with spray foam, and construction paper and sparkles as the cupcake paper. The icing is done with wall speckle. I applied the speckling with a cake icing topper to give it a little more of the icing form.
The hair is a blue wig with I curled myself using curlers and very hot water. I used just a black headband with a heart made from cardboard and covered in a foam sheet of sparkles, which I hot glued to it. I used real sprinkles on the cupcakes and a little paint to brighten them up.
the cherries are Christmas decorations that I sparkled and glued on. The cupcakes are attached to the top using only hot glue. After it was all put together I covered the shorts and cupcakes with a clear spray coat, just to help keep it together and take the tackiness form the spray glue away.
