For this homemade King Kong Scaling Empire State Building Halloween costume idea we took a large cardboard box and cut it down to shape it into the Empire state building, we cut an opening in the back for my daughter to get in easily and attached fishing line to help hold the box up. We bought a gorilla mask for the face, used black gloves, black sweatshirt and pants and a second pair of black sweats that we stuffed and added black gloves to for the feet and attached to the box to make it look like King Kong was halfway up the building.
We painted windows on the box and attached a toy plane to make it look like the plane was attacking King Kong and we gave her a barbie doll to hold and wave around. It was somewhat awkward going up stairs, but the compliments and extra candy were well worth it.
