I took a cruise of the Mexican Riviera the first week of October 2010. While shopping in Masatlan Mexico, my husband purchased 2 Lucha Libre masks for our nephews (6 & 4). Naturally, when we gave them the masks, they decided that was what they wanted to be for Halloween.
The blue costume is Alexander (4) & we named him “Alejandro el Dragon Azul” (Alexander the blue dragon – his idea!). Denver (6) is Rey Mysterio (green & gold version).
I cut the capes from a basic cape pattern & lined each with a contrasting color. The cape logos & the leg covers are made from vinyl I got at the fabric store. Sweatshirts & sweatpants with gym shorts completed the costumes.
We started our Halloween day at 9 am & didn’t finish till 8pm (lots of events & group activities) and they were the ONLY Lucha Libre we saw all day long! =)
