Coolest Homemade Mario and Princess Peach Costumes

We wanted to make these homemade Mario and Princess Peach costumes look as realistic as possible, and I think we did a pretty good job.

Mario: We found rather cheap overalls on eBay and was able to find a red long sleeve shirt at Goodwill. We also found workboots at Goodwill that were already old, so they looked like a painter would have worn them. For the hat, we bought a red baseball hat at Michael’s and cut out an “M” out of a circle of yellow felt. We attached it to the hat by sewing the top, bottom, and the sides.

Princess Peach: We found a pink prom dress on eBay that had short sleeves, just like Princess Peach’s dress. We then bought pink satin in a darker color than the dress and sewed it to the back of the dress, draping it around the butt area. We made the crown out of a lampshade by turning it upside down, spray painting it gold and gluing plastic jewels onto it. We clipped the crown onto a long blonde wig. We found the top of a ceramic jewelry box and spray painted it dark green to act as the large jewel on the dress. We sewed it to the dress in the front.

Both costumes cost a little over $100 together.
