I made this homemade Mario Kart costume over the course of 2 months… I hand made all the cars from cardboard and painted them all with symbols or characters that represented each different driver.. For instance Yoshi had eggs on the car, Mario had pipes, Goombas etc… Princess Peach (not pictured) had stars and glitter on a pink car…
Each car was painted according to the driver.. DK had a brown car with a tie on the front and banana peels painted on etc…. Yoshi’s head was hand sewn as well as the shirt/ dinosaur back… The rest of his outfit was painted painters clothing… Toad’s head was hand sewn as well…
We also had one other ghost character who is not pictured as well… Our cars all, at one point, had balloons. We also all had banana peels stashed in a compartment in the inside of the cars to throw during our “races” through downtown. I also built in cup holders for drinks while we were out and about.
