When you think of the word villain, only one word comes to mind…Shredder! I decided to go as Master Shredder for Halloween this year. This homemade Master Shredder Halloween costume took about 3 weeks to make, and lost a lot of sleep doing so.
The costume had several things for it. The helmet was made out of chicken wire, paper machete, and silver spray paint. There was NO foil used. There was a hat inside the helmet that was built in, this way it stayed on my head. The helmet weighed about 3-4 lbs. My neck was hurting by the end of the night. The mask was a modified paintball mask, which worked pretty well.
I had lacrosse shin guards, with spikes super glued, on my shoulders, ankles, and wrists. It put more detail into the costume. I went with the Shredder outfit from the second film (Secret of the Ooze), since the red one wasn’t that good in the first film. I wore purple fabric from head to toe, black slippers, a silk fabric for the cape, and black fabric for the belt.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the homemade Master Shredder Halloween costume, as well as I did. The hard work paid off in the end.
