Coolest Homemade Max and Carol Couple Costume

I haven’t paper mâchéd since I was probably 6 years old. But this Halloween I had a little more time in my 4th year of medical school (yes I am usually VERY left brained) and decided to put my mind to it and make our costumes inspired by the BOOK (movie was too dark and depressing for us) Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak.

The mask of the Homemade Max and Carol Couple Costume is paper mâché with molded foam and clay to make the facial features. Carol (the monster) had a base shirt and sweats that we added scales to for some dimension. He also has spikey toed shoes and scaled hand gloves. Max was a pattern for a onesie costume that I altered to match his costume.

I hope you enjoy this costume! We have gone out in it twice already and ended up taking pictures with strangers all night. My excessive amount of hard work is paying off!
