Coolest Homemade Miss Argentina from Beetlejuice Halloween Costume

This Homemade Miss Argentina from Beetlejuice Halloween Costume took me about a week and several trips to the fabric store but I LOVE how it came out, even though I have never really sewn before.

I used a pattern for a saloon girl dress, some shiny red stretch fabric, a sheer black overlay with purple sequins, black netting underneath and a black sequin ruffle trim, about 2.5 yards of each fabric. The cape was made with 6 guage red wire and about 2 yards of sheer sparkle red material. For the sash I used white satin and cut out sparkle foam letters with silver trim alone the edge of the sash. Even though it was a little over sized I thought the letters were very Beetlejuice-esque.

The makeup was Mehron brand grease sticks in green and blue mixed together with about two coats of setting powder and spray. The slit wrists were the disappointment of the costume as the glue stopped working about an hour after they were applied. Instead of painting my legs green, I found a pair of HUE tights in the color I needed which was called “Jersey”.

I got many compliments though the night from people who got who I was, though two people asked if I was She Hulk, or if I was from Star Trek.

Took me about 2 showers to get all the green off but it was totally worth it!
