For Halloween I wanted to create a costume that would be unique and interactive. Thinking back to my favorite childhood toys a Mrs. Potato Head costume seemed like the perfect idea! After digging up my old figurine the costume took about 2 hours to make.
The inside structure is a pop up laundry hamper and then covered with a queen size tan sheet. To create the “potato” look I stuffed the inside with pillow stuffing and duck tapped the sheet inside to make sure the stuffing didn’t fall out throughout the night.
The parts are made out of Styrofoam and then covered with fabric. The eyes are my favorite as I think they make the costume come to life. The extra long eyelashes are made from pipe cleaners. I then attached the parts with Velcro which allowed them to get moved throughout the night. No parts were lost throughout the Halloween celebration.
I lovee your costume. I hope you can help me to recreate it for this Halloween!
where did you get the pop up laundry basket??
How did you attach the sheet to your shoulders??
Where did you find the Styrofoam shapes?!?!?
I absolutely love this costume and hope you can help!
Thank you,
