Original Homemade Mummy Costume

I went to a thrift store and purchased a white long sleeved shirt and a pair of white pants for this Homemade Mummy Costume. I then went to a local fabric store and bought 9 yards of fabric in an “undead” color.

Then I cut the fabric by hand, into about 150 small jagged strips. Then with 10 spools of “undead” colored thread, I layed out a pattern of strips on the clothing and then painstakingly hand sewed each strip in layers until I got the desired shredded torn up look. Then I attached a few fake ring spiders to it and then wrapped my hands, head, and shoes in the extra scrap material.

I would have put more around my head, but at work they have this rule about not covering your face. The costume was a hit. I got a lot of appreciate stares, an offer to be on the evening news, and a lot of people touching me, which was on the weirder side.
