This is my Homemade Oompa Loompa Costume. For the hair: I bought a blond wig, cut it, rolled it up, bobby pinned it, and sprayed it with hair spray and green “hair” paint. I bought a brown turtle neck, bought some white fabric paint to paint the stripes on. I purchased white gloves, brown socks (painted the stripes with the fabric paint). I had the brown shoes, and all I did was buy balloons and swirl brown fabric paint on the balloons.
I bought super dark foundation for my face, and white face paint for the eye brows. The suspenders were made of felt, and two brown buttons with elastic waist. I won 3 costume contests Halloween night! I was the hit at all the bars, and the only Oompa Loompa out there.
Great costume. I am looking to do this costume for a dance team performance. Your information helped a lot. I am having a hard time finding brown turtle neck shirts though… any suggestions?
How did you do the pants?
Where did you get the pants? I am directing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and was looking for bottoms for the students playing oompas! THANKS!
I had the same question, where did you get the pants and the brown turtle necks?
omg!!!! you see, me and my sister are having a Wonka party but, I’m gonna be an Umpa Lumpa. I’m saving money on a wig by spray painting my hair green (its short and curly any-way so should be okay, I’ll just pray that the paint comes out haha- or without making me go bold) but I wanted a crack at making the dungarees-yours are so awesome and the striped scarf! wow-that’s such a groovy costume! Your an inspiration-AND VERY CREATIVE!
