Coolest Homemade Oompa Loompa Costumes

My sister and I have always wanted to be Oompa Loompas for Halloween, so this year we finally did it! We are both short which made this Homemade Oompa Loompa Costumes even more perfect.

To make this costume we went to a variety of stores and bought brown turtlenecks and socks, white capri pants, thick white ribbon, Velcro, 4 buttons, medical tape, brown and white pom poms, orange and white face paint, sponge rollers, white gloves, and green hair spray.

We used the medical tape to make the stripes on the brown turtlenecks and socks. The suspenders were made out of ribbon which we attached to the inside of our pants with Velcro. We couldn’t find brown buttons, so we bought gold ones and colored them with a brown permanent marker and then super glued them to our pants.

The hair is all natural but, to get the Oompa Loompa hair style, we put sponge rollers in our hair for about 4 hours; we then sprayed our hair with green hair-spray after we took the rollers out. We taped brown and white pom poms to our socks, painted our faces orange and our eyebrows white and…..TA DA! A classic Oompa Loompa costume for under $60!

We stayed in character all night and even did the dance on stage at the party we went to! It was so much fun to stray away from the promiscuous and/or store-bought look. I can’t wait for what’s coming next year!
